DAY 1.
TBILISI
Arrival at Tbilisi, transfer to the hotel. Spare time.
DAY 2.
TBILISI
Walking tour around the city including Old Tbilisi, visiting Meidan and Sulfur Baths, the modern part of the city. In the evening – dinner at a restaurant with national show program.
DAY 3.
TBILISI—SIGNAGI—TBILISI
A trip to the Signagi town and Bodbe Convent, visiting an Old Carpet exhibition and Historical Cellar with wine dégustation. One of the oldest and most beautiful towns in Georgia – Signagi is located in Kakheti region in Eastern Georgia. The town offers a magnificent view of the Caucasus Mountains and Alazani Valley. Bodbe Convent is located near Signagi. In Bodbe you can visit St. Nino’s grave. After Saint Nino’s coming, Christianity was adopted in Georgia as the official religion.
DAY 4.
TBILISI—MTSKHETA—TBILISI
A sightseeing tour to the capital of Georgia – Mtskheta. The city was founded in the I millennium B.C. and had been the capital for eight centuries until the 5th century A.D. Mtskheta is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is placed under UNESCO Enhanced Protection. Visiting Svetitskhoveli Cathedral where the greatest relic of the Georgian Church is contained – the Chiton of the Lord. Visiting Jvari Monastery. Lunch at a typical Khinkali house in Mtskheta where the tastiest Khinkali in Georgia are served.
DAY 5.
TBILISI
Visiting the park at Mount Mtatsminda near the television tower. From the park, we will go down the stairs to Mtatsminda Pantheon of Georgian Writers and Public Figures where Alexander Griboyedov is buried. We will hear a romantic love story of Griboyedov and Nino Chavchavadze. Visiting Saint David’s Church and St. David’s spring that flows out of the mountain and is considered to heal childless women, a stop during the tour at the statue of Mother of Georgia. Visiting invigorating Sulfur Baths.
DAY 6.
TBILISI—KAZBEGI—TBILISI
A sightseeing tour to the gem of the Caucasus Mountain Range – Mount Kazbek. Trekking to Gergeti Trinity Church (3 km) located at the foot of Kazbek at the height of 2,170 m in a Georgian village Gergeti on the right bank of the Chkheri river (Terek’s tributary), right above Stepantsminda townlet. On the way we will visit Ananuri fortress on the bank of Zhinvali Lake. The fortress was built in early feudalism and was an advance stronghold of defense that blockaded the road from the Darial Gorge in the Caucasus Mountains.
DAY 7.
TBILISI-UPLISTSIKHE-GORI-TBILISI
A sightseeing tour to the city of Gori – one of the important cities along the Silk Road. Visiting Gori Fortress during the tour. Visiting the new Memorial of Georgian Warriors to The Dead Soldiers of the 08.08.08 War. In Gori, we will also briefly visit Joseph Stalin Museum. Visiting a rock-hewn town of Uplistsikhe is also scheduled. The town of Uplistsikhe dates back to the end of II – the beginning of the I century B.C. At its heyday it comprised over 700 cave and cave structures, but only 150 of them have remained intact until now. Over a hundred of different structures were hewed in the rock, including temples, public buildings and dwelling houses, wells and sewers were arranged, as well as town gates, streets and fortifications.
DAY 8.
TBILISI
Transfer to the airport. Flight home.
