Program of the journey:
05 October – Kvareli, Kakheti
Kakheti is the land of vineyards, tasty wine and Georgian hospitality. Even a short stay here can transform your thinking beyond recognition and charge you with a healing energy of the sun, fertile soils and the vast blue sky with sweet ripening grapes beneath.
06 October – Nekresi Monastery, grape harvesting
During the day we will visit Nekresi Monastery located on the mountain overlooking Alazani Valley. Probably we will have time for tea on Lake Kvareli. After which we are in for grape picking in a small family winery, dégustation, a tasty dinner and Georgian dances.
07 October – Visiting Signagi – the “Town of Love”
It is no coincidence that Signagi is called “Georgian Las Vegas” – it is a place where Marriage Registry works round the clock, and everyone can have their marriage registered without prior appointment. The famous Town of Love has spread out on a mountain overlooking the vast Alazani Valley
08 October – Borjomi
We drive to Borjomi to set off the following day on a real horseback riding expedition in the Kharagauli National park. This is our favorite part, which will bring you unforgettable emotions and experiences.
09 and 10 October – expedition
Early in the morning we will start off on a real horseback riding expedition in the Kharagauli National Park. Its area is 5,000 sq. kilometers, and it means almost 7.6% of Georgia’s territory! In this natural reserve, one can come across red deer, chamois, roe deer, wildcats and even a lynx. Over 215 bird species and 30 amphibian species inhabit the park, and the sight of alpine meadows takes your breath away!
10 October – returning to Borjomi
We will return to the city in the evening, tired but happy! And bring unforgettable memories.
11 October – free day
It is the right time to have a rest after the expedition, catch up on sleep, get a massage, take a hot bath and drink real Borjomi. It’s not for nothing that in the center of the city there is a well where water so famous all over former Soviet Union springs right from beneath the ground!
12 October – Vardzia, Akhaltsikhe
Today we will set off to the city of Akhaltsikhe, we will see a mighty and unyielding Rabati fortress – a true symbol of Georgia. Several times the fortress was destroyed, but it was always built anew, keeping memories of the ancestors.
After dinner we will set off to the Vardzia Monastery and fortress – the pride of Georgia. George III, legendary Queen Tamar’ s father, began to build the Vardzia fortified monastery in a vertical tuff cliff to protect fertile Georgian lands from the raids of the Turks and Persians.
