Daily travel program:
05 May – Kakheti
This region in Georgia is the birthplace of wine. “Mukuzani, Saperavi, Tsinandali” ... that’s where all these words come from. Over 2/3 of Georgian grape is grown here, where nonclassic wine-making methods are still used: for 3 to 4 months raw material is being fermented and macerated in huge amphorae called “kvevri” dug under the ground to result in an amazing variety of fragrant wines.
06 May – horseback riding in the Lagodekhi National Park, visiting Signagi – the "Town of Love
The Lagodekhi National Park is a fantastic place where deer, chamois, roe deer and brown bear roam freely, amazing emerald-green alpine meadows with beautiful flowers grow, and waterfalls make their delightful noise. We will start the day by horseback riding in the park.
Then we will set off to the “Town of Love” Signagi that has stretched out right above Alazani Valley. It is no coincidence that Signagi is called “Georgian Las Vegas” – it is a place where Marriage Registry works round the clock, and everyone can have their marriage registered without prior appointment.
07 May – Mtskheta, Jvari, Uplistsikhe
We will visit an ancient capital of Georgia – the city of Mtskheta, whose foundation dates back to the 5 (fifth) century B.C., the church of Jvari standing on a mountaintop that offers a much-admired view of the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers. We will also visit a rock-hewn town Uplistsikhe.
08 May – Prometheus Cave, Sataplia Cave, Gelati Monastery
A solutional (karst) Kumistavi Cave is the gem of Imereti. Sataplia is a Jurassic park in Imereti. A hiking trail offers a fantastic view of the underground kingdom lit with multi-color illumination.
We will also visit Gelati Monastery of Virgin Mary, the most important among medieval monasteries in Georgia, the crowning place of King David the Builder.
09 May – Martvili and Okatse Canyons
Okatse is a breathtaking canyon with enormous energy and power. You have a 2,500-meter walk along a paved street ahead of you, and coming down 544 steps. It is a real challenge to test your physical and spiritual strength :)
Then we will visit Martvili Canyon, or “Georgia-style Jurassic Park” – it’s where dinosaur footprints have been dug out by paleontologists.
