Daily travel program:
01 June – Getting acquainted
After checking into the hotel, we will have a walk along the Freedom Square and Shota Rustaveli Avenue. We will drop into Vody Lagidze cafe and taste the famos fizzy drink..
02 June – the Key to the Caucasus is in Tbilisi
Today we will start getting more familiar with Tbilisi. We will start with Cminda Sameba (the Holy Trinity) Cathedral. From the cathedral, we will go down to Rike Park, take a selfie with dancing fountains and go over the Bridge of Peace. Then we will set off to the very heart of Tbilisi – the 12th century Metekhi Church. A cable car will take us to Narikala fortress – a famous power place.
The Samgebro Street will lead us down to Meidani Square – the heart of the Old City. We will admire the waterfall and have a walk in the district of sulfur bathing houses — that’s where Tbilisi has originated.
03 June – the land of love and making wine
After an early breakfast we will set off to Kakheti. This is a place where gorgeous wine is made, where the sun shines the record number of days in a year, and where Marriage Registry works round the clock! We will visit Bodbe Convent and Signagi – the Town of Love.
04 July – Mtskheta, the heart of Georgia
Mtskheta is an ancient capital of Georgia, which is called “The Second Jerusalem.” We will visit the most ancient Svetitskhoveli Cathedral and an old picturesque Jvari Monastery (the Holy Cross). We will climb onto the viewing platform to admire the magic place of the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers.
05 June – the Way to the Sea
After an early breakfast we will lay a course for Batumi along the Georgian Military Road. On the way we will visit Gori, Joseph Stalin Museum. In the evening we will arrive at Kutaisi, Georgia’s second capital. We will ascent to the Bagrati Cathedral and enjoy the view of the evening city, which is plainly visible from there.
06 June – Martvili and Okatse canyons
Okatse is a breathtaking canyon with enormous energy and power. We have a 2,500-meter walk along a paved street ahead of us, and coming down 544 steps. It is a real challenge to test your physical and spiritual strength :)
Then we will go to Martvili Canyon, or “Georgia-style Jurassic Park” – it’s where dinosaur footprints have been dug out by paleontologists. This is a fantastically beautiful gorge where a mountain river flows at a 40-meter depth below, cliffs overhang the water and lianas climb down the stones, creating the impression of a tropical forest.
07 June – Batumi
Here we will lie on the beach, sunbathe, swim in the sea, walk along the beach promenade and make photos with exquisite sculptures of lovers Ali and Nino.
08 June – Spare time and farewell dinner
09 May – Flight back home
