Travel programm

DAY 1.
TBILISI
Arrival. Reception at the airport, transfer, hotel check-in. Sightseeing tour of Tbilisi including the following highlights: Old Tbilisi, Meidan and sulphur bathhouses, Holy Trinity Cathedral, Narikala Fortress, Metekhi Plateau, the Synagogue, the Mosque, the glass Bridge of Peace, the fortress wall, Rustaveli Avenue, Freedom Square, the pedestrian Shardeni Street and the modern part of the city.
DAY 2.
TBILISI – SIGNAGI – TELAVI
Drive to Signagi, sightseeing tour, visiting History Museum where paintings of Niko Pirosmani, a famous Georgian artist, are displayed, as well as treasures found during excavations. On our way, we have scheduled a visit to Bodbe Convent where there is St. Nino’s grave. Wine dégustation at a home wine cellar, where you will be offered 4 kinds of wine, Georgian lavash and cheese. Drive to Telavi, visitine vineyards near Mukuzani, Saperavi, Tsinandali villages. Dinner at a peasant’s house with local wine from the wood.
DAY 3.
TELAVI
Visiting a winery where you will be told about the traditional Georgian technology of making wine in an amphora called “kvevri.” Wine-making technology in Georgia has remained practically unchanged. Grape picking and crushing are done by hand only. You will be shown traditional instruments and technologies of traditional wine-making culture. Wine dégustation at the winery. Visiting Tsinandali and the museum of Prince Alexander Chavchavadze. The house museum nestles in the midst of a gorgeous park where Alexander Chavchavadze built his wine cellars in 1886 to industrialize traditional wine-making. In this way the oldest winery in Georgia was established. Wine dégustation at the residence. Returning to Telavi. Visiting home cellars with astonishing wines that are sought for by connoisseurs at winehouse shelves. Dinner. Night in Telavi.
DAY 4.
TELAVI – TBILISI
Visiting the Academy of Ikalto, where one of the first world’s educational academies was established as early as the 9th century. Along with philosophy, astronomy, mathematics, Greek and Latin languages, students were taught wine-making as a special subject. Visiting Alaverdi Cathedral. Transfer to Tbilisi via the Gombori Mountain Range, dinner at a restaurant.
DAY 5.
TBILISI
Transfer to the airport. Flight home.
